WHITE OAKS SHORES-Stella NC 5-13-5-16

We went on our first FMCA trip to White Oak Shores Camping & RV Resort which sits along North Carolina's pristine Crystal Coast. Surrounded by the tranquil, flowing waters of White Oak River and set amongst coastal marshes, this resort offers guests peaceful surroundings and a perfect "base camp" for exploring the many attractions of this beautiful area. On Thursday night we set up had a little dinner and met some of the member from the FMCA COASTAL TARHEELS. Randy and Cherry filled us in on the activities for the weekend. Friday night we had a Seafood Bash, it was delicious. Saturday morning was breakfast, scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, juice, coffee etc. Saturday night some freshly caught flounder and cole slaw, hush puppies all cooked fresh by Randy, Cherry, Ron. We went to downtown Swansboro approx 7 miles from where we stayed and just enjoyed walking around. Stopped in at DUCK's Restaurant and ate outside on the deck and enjoyed the Waterfront. We stopped at an ICE SHOPPE/Bakery where Margaret had an Almond Croissant and I had a Linzar Tart to go for coffee that eve.

NEARBY:NC Aquarium-Pine Knolls

Some folks went and said it was well worth the trip

BTW: Large PULL THROUGH RV sites, full hookups, very private bathhouse.. One minor draw back no escaping from the SUN..no trees. But a beautiful pool with a slide. Pier for fishing and boat rentals available. Well stocked store.. Would definitely go back.. http://www.whiteoakshores.com/index.html

Pre Memorial Day Trip-BriarClife RV Park-Myrtle Beach, SC - 5/21/10

Hi.. It was an uneventful trip to SC... Easy drive down 40 to 17 and south to North Myrtle Beach. Drove into the park and we checked in and were greeted in a fairly friendly manner. We given a real nice corner site 235. Our neighbors were very friendly and willing to help if needed.. Could not ask for better neighbors. We ate at Barefoot Landing at our favorite restaurant in Myrtle Beach... "Umberto's Italian Restaurant"> at Barefoot landing. Of course we made our obligatory trip to Walmart and Camping World.. We would definitely go back to Briarclife...

Spring is in the Air-We will be on the road

Well we survived the winter,,, It was easy, we kept the RV in storage and flew to California for a month to visit with Son and his wonderful wife, Grandson... and NEWBORN... We had a great time, but like everything else it did come to an end. So we have de-winterizied the RV and are ready to go on the road again..

First Stop..Stella, NC.. White Oak Shores CG.. We are going with our FMCA group and are looking forward to a great time

Second Stop: BriarClife RV park, Myrtle Beach, SC..This will be a solo trip and will meet friends from NY who have moved to Surfside, SC. My friend and I worked together at IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Going Fulltime ... UMMMMM

We are considering almost full-time. We are expecting to spend at least 10 months of the year in the RV, traveling to new locations every few weeks to a month or so. For the first few years we will just be traveling in the US & Canada. Who knows maybe someday we will ship the RV to Australia. So we will keep you posted as we continue this new chapter in our lives.

We have been staying home due to the bitter cold weather. Being new at this, don't want to do something silly and casue damage or incur $$$ costs.. Stay warm and keep checking..

Annie-Thanksgiving Adventure w/Grandkids

We were on the road for the Thanksgiving Holidays with Grandkids.. It was their first time ever camping. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Kept the kids busy with activities and lil excursions into the woods for minor adventures. They had complete run of the campground...SUPERVISED....

Cooked out in the fire ring and had a blast, Weenies, Mac/Cheese, French Fries, Beverage of choice.. $$=Priceless. Looking to do it again w/them.

Maiden Voyage-Sycamore Lodge

Our first trip was to Sycamore Lodge, Jackson Springs, NC... It is a very nice place with many amenities, i.e Lodge for adults, swimming, Hot tub, Min Golf, Shuffle board, Horseshoes, game room for kids, scheduled activities etc..
